Research Summary

Interested in endotracheal tube biofilm formation and its roll in the ventilator associated pneumonia, especially pediatric ICU population. A project related to bench research collaborating with Engineering department, utilizing nanotechnology to change the medical device materials for creating less bacterial adhesion.

Past or Present Projects Available:

Potential future projects:
1) obtaining the consent form and enrolling the patients for IRB study
2) data organization from patients demographics
3) analyzing the nano-modified endotracheal tubes and biofilm formation using scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, confocal microscopy etc.
4) streaking the suspended bacteria on media agar and obtaining CFU/ml
etc.
