Research Summary

Studies are focused on the signal transduction pathways important for regulation of cardiac myocyte proliferation during the transition from fetal to early postnatal life. The growth of cardiac myocytes switches from hyperplasia to hypertrophy shortly after birth.

Past or Present Projects Available:

The effects of a B-adrenergic stimulation on the regulation of cardiomyocyte proliferation; The crosstalk between beta-adrenergic receptors and P13K signaling pathway in the heart; Temporal activation of the PI(3)K signaling pathway and the proliferation of cardiac myocytes in a newborn murine animal model; Role of the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) and its ligands in mechanical stretch-induced lung injury; Endothelial Cell Migration Rate: Signaling and Cytoskeletal Mechanisms
