Research Summary

Evaluate the mechanisms underlying vascular dysfunction and cardiac dysfunction seen in pulmonary vascular diseases. The laboratory uses a variety of in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo approaches utilizing the preclinical models of pulmonary hypertension and emphysema. In clinical research, we are attempting to characterize the role and impact of cardiac dysfunction in settings of lung diseases.

Past or Present Projects Available:

C-type Natriuretic Peptide and Endothelial Cell Membrane Potential; Calcium imaging in endothelial cells; RGS protein expression in pulmonary hypertension; RGS protein association with vascular remodeling in npulmonary hypertension; Effect of natriuretic peptide on endothelial cell calcium; Identifying BKcka channel and subunit isoforms in rat lung microvascular endothelial cells; The Effect of BKca Channel Activation on Endothelial Cell Membrane Potential, No Production, and Intracellular Calcium in Hypoxia
