Research Summary

Clinical simulation enables deliberate practice, helping healthcare professionals perform at their peak. Our work promotes clinical excellence through skills acquisition and scenario practice; skills mastery via surgical task trainers, and scenario-based education to refine algorithms, procedures, behaviors, and teamwork. Immersive simulation draws participants through realistic scenarios towards specific learning objectives. Facilitated debriefing leads adult learners to reflect on the strengths and weaknesses during that simulation. We offer a safe learning environment in which to refine processes, practice techniques, advance patient safety. When integrated into the clinical routine, simulation results in superior teamwork, systems effectiveness and patient care.
